Chief Information Officer (2019-Present)
Provide strategic and operational guidance to College leadership and the campus community on all aspects of information technology and library planning, programs, and resources. Library & Information Technology at CCAD consists of four units (Packard Library and Educational Technology, User Services & Help Desk, IT Infrastructure, and Business Systems). Staff of 19 FTE (21 prior to COVID-19).
Key Accomplishments:
- Promoted to oversee Packard Library and create a merged Library & Information Technology (L&IT) division (January 2020).
- COVID Response Leadership: Led L&IT’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic; especially the move to remote instruction and work. In January 2021 the department was awarded the President’s Award for our efforts
- Strengthened L&IT’s relationships across campus by improving communication, scheduling regular meetings with the Provost, Deans, Human Resources, and attending campus functions. In fall 2019 launched the Technology Enhancing Creativity (TEC) Initiative to modernize campus technology
- Oversaw the development and launch of CCAD’s digital archive (in collaboration with the Ohio Memory Project)
- Enacted a cloud-first strategy for campus technology. A sampling of services migrated to cloud-based applications include: email, calendaring, and network drives (Google Workspace – a projected $254,000 savings over five years.); Active Directory (Azure); telephone (Calltower’s Cisco); contract management (Concord Now); residence life management (eRezLife); HRIS and payroll (Paycor); expenses (Concur); budgeting (BudgetPak); DNS (CloudFlare)
- Implemented a new cloud-based backup service (Dell PowerProtect) to enhance the college’s disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Eliminated redundant data center
- Enhanced CCAD’s Microsoft license to include access to 365 services (Fall 2019). This decision enabled the institution to better meet academic demands during remote teaching in spring 2020
- Migrated primary authentication system outside of CCAD’s infrastructure. This new cloud-based service (Azure AD) introduced a single-sign-on experience, multi-factor authentication, a self-service password portal, and assures access to cloud-based systems in the event of a campus-wide power failure
- Initiated a new relationship with the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) to benefit networking and internet services. Established connection to OARnet enabling access to Internet2 and other high-speed services; awarded a grant from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) to upgrade our campus internet connection capacity from 1G to 10G
- Upgraded campus WiFi to better meet academic needs and growing use by residential students
- Strengthened IT security efforts, launched a new security awareness initiative including phishing simulation emailsand training; CCAD’s Microsoft Secure Score for Identity currently is 97.26%
- Acted as interim head of Campus Planning, Facilities, Safety & Security, and Auxiliary Services from June 2021-June 2022. Led campus planning efforts including the renovation/creation of a new Welcome Center and space for Admissions, Corporate & Community Partnerships, Career Services, and Graduate & Continuing Education
